Numerical simulations for the class should be done using Octave or Matlab. Matlab is available on university owned computers. Binary distributions of Octave for Windows and Mac OS X can be downloaded and installed from http://octave.sourceforge.net/.

To make your life easier, you may want to install the Aquamacs editor, in which you can edit the script files. Download the binary of Emacs from http://aquamacs.org/.
