Please turn on the assignment either as a PDF file to me by email, or as a printout to my mailbox in physics. Detailed derivations (with explanations) and calculations must be present for the problems for full credit. Submit your code if a problem requires you to program.

Undergraduates

  1. Problem 4.3.
  2. Problem 4.4.
  3. Problem 4.5.
  4. Problem 4.8.
  5. Problem 4.14 (use Matlab routine for Poisson random numbers generation; do not write your own as in 4.6). Calculate the mean and the variance of the number of resistant cells in 3 different repetitions of your computational experiment. Do the numbers stay roughly the same from repetition to repetition?
